The Sugar theme is a 3rd party Genesis Framework theme created for bloggers who are into the News Industry. This theme is set up to showcase the latest headlines in a beautiful way with images also being a big focus on the homepage. This theme also comes with several nice built-in features. Let’s start
Let’s start with the homepage layout. The very top of the Sugar theme is your menu bar with the search box aligned to the right of it. Keep in mind you can add the search box to the side column if that’s your style. Under this is a place for the logo image that is centered. Below the logo image is where the magic happens with custom homepage widgets to configure with help from the theme’s documentation. Further customizations can be found in our Genesis Framework Tutorials category.
The first widget section is below the logo image and is a huge rectangle widget that spans the whole width of the theme. This is actually a slider widget with the requirement of installing the recommended plugin. Display the latest blog posts in this slider image with the featured image showing and a box inside that image with the title of the blog post and a brief description. Do check out the demo version to see this feature in action. Under this widget section, are 2 more widget sections to set up. A footer widget is included as you can see in the demo version.
